Ikeja Electric Takes Electricity Safety Campaign to Lagos Schools

Ikeja Electric Plc has carried its electricity safety message into classrooms in the Bariga area of Lagos, using this year's Children's Day to launch an educational outreach targeting pupils in public primary schools within its franchise network.

The company visited C.M.S. Primary School and Howells Nursery & Primary School on Thursday, where students were taken through practical electricity safety sessions, interactive activities, and received donations of educational materials.

The outreach, driven by the company's Personal Corporate Social Responsibility framework and executed through its Employee Volunteer Scheme, focused on teaching pupils how to identify electrical hazards, adopt safe practices at home and in school, and respond to electrical emergencies.

Kingsley Okotie, Head of Corporate Communications at Ikeja Electric in a press release sent to Alimosho Standard, said the initiative was about more than safety tips. "Every child deserves not just access to education, but the knowledge to stay safe in their everyday environment," he said. "Electricity is a vital part of modern life, and helping children understand how to engage with it safely is one of the most powerful ways we can protect their future."

Okotie further described the outreach as an investment in community development. "When we step into classrooms like those in Bariga, we are not just sharing safety tips — we are shaping mindsets, building awareness, and inspiring young minds to dream bigger and learn better," he added.

School management at both institutions welcomed the intervention, noting that safety education at such a young age creates a ripple effect that reaches beyond the classroom into homes and neighbourhoods.
