PWDs PAY COURTESY VISIT TO APC CHAIRMANSHIP CANDIDATE, HON. AKINDELE
By Olufemi Odeyemi
Members of the People Living with Disabilities (PWDs) group in Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate, at her constituency office on Monday, May 21, 2025. Her running mate, Hon. (Prince) Akintola Falade JP, was also present during the meeting.
During the visit, Hon. Akindele expressed appreciation for the PWDs' participation in democratic processes, particularly during the general elections. "I appreciate your visit. We also thank God that we didn’t lose Lagos State to the opposition in 2023. Therefore, in the name of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I say thank you. Despite your status, you came out during the elections and cast your votes," she said.
Hon. Akindele reaffirmed her commitment to building an inclusive government that represents every segment of the community. "They say there’s ability in disability. At the state level of our party, the APC, one of your members is already serving on the state executive council. I want to assure you that our administration will appoint a representative from your group to work closely with you," she pledged.
Her running mate, Hon. (Prince) Akintola Falade JP, emphasized the need for government to prioritize the welfare of all citizens, regardless of their physical condition. "Governance is about welfarism. Infrastructure, health, and education are essential, but if we ignore the welfare of our people, everything else falls short. That is why our in-coming administration will be committed to making the welfare of all residents, regardless of status, our top priority," he said.
Comrade Sanni Oluwafunmilayo, Chairperson of the PWD group in Mosan-Okunola LCDA, expressed appreciation for the promises made by the candidates. "The inclusive government you have promised is exactly what we need. It is very important to us. We also want to be part of your campaign team," she said.
Hon. Akindele urged the PWDs to remain politically active and begin sensitizing their members in preparation for the 2027 general elections. "Our target is 2027. I want your group to participate actively in voter education and encourage your members to support the APC. I believe things will improve before the next general elections," she said.
