LICOHM CONDUCTS 18TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY

Monday 18th April 2016 was a day of celebration and positive reflection on the future of the new students of LABHCA Institute of Cosmetology and Hair management (LICOHM) as they took their oath of allegiance in a matriculation ceremony conducted in their school premises at Abule-Egba area of Lagos state.
The matriculation according to the president of the institution Mrs. Yetunde Oladipupio Ijaoba, was the 18th of the institute. Speaking with Alimosho Standard, Mrs. Ijaoba stressed that the school, a subsidiary of Lagos state Barbers, Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association (LABHCA) which was founded in 2006 had come a long way and has impacted the lives of many positively, creating employment in the process.
Similarly, the president in her welcome address admonished the new entrants to be positive and focused throughout their stay in the institute. “I want to implore every one of you to have the mindset of positivity, because defeat only comes when the mind has been defeated,” She said.
In her speech, Ms. Grace Akangson, the Registrar and one of the lecturers in the school, advised the matriculating students to remain humble and persistent throughout their course of study in the institution.  Taking the students down memory lane, Ms. Akangson hinted that the institute which specializes in eight different practical courses namely: Total Management Course, Barbing, Body Therapy, Nails Technique, Make up, Beads Making, Afro Asia (natural hair treatment and  braids and extension), was founded in 2006 and had her first matriculation in 2007.
In attendance was the representative of the National coordinator of Lagos State Technical Boards Mr. Abubakar. He advised the school to embark on more publicity so as to afford many to benefit from this laudable opportunity. He also encouraged the students to take full advantage of the qualified lecturers and staff on ground so as to learn everything they can to better their future.
He advised them not to limit themselves to what is taught in the institution but also embark on more research to know more. “I think the school is a standard one and they have lots of good and experienced staff, I will love to recommend them to anyone who aspires to acquire qualitative skills for future benefits.” He remarked.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Juliana Olufunmilayo Ughutebe and Princess Abimbola Isiba, a member of the board of trustee and a lecturer in the department of Nails Technique respectively, advised the students to be goal oriented and also embrace all the opportunities available to them and ensure they take part in all the skills available. They call on others who are not yet beneficiaries of the institution to come and enroll so as to benefit from the opportunities that abound in the institution.
The highpoint of the matriculation came when the matriculating students swore to an oath to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution and also to be good ambassadors.
Speaking with Alimosho Standard, the class Governor, Mr. Oladele Abiodun and one of the matriculating students Miss Adeyemi Ayomide Oluwabunmi attested to the qualitative training available in the institution. They urged youths who are yet to acquire a skill or want to perfect their skills professionally to come and benefit from this institute of excellence.
