Lagos Gubernatorial Election: APC gives Free Eye Glasses and Health Insurance Scheme in Abesan

 The chairman of APC in Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. Opeyemi Adunni Akindele on Wednesday 15th March, 2023 organised free Eye Test and Glasses for residents of Abesan Estate in Mosan Okunola, Alimosho local government of Lagos state in furtherance to APC’s campaign for the second term in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.


Abesan Estate with a population of more than a hundred thousand people and fifty thousand registered voters with 74 polling units is the biggest Estate in Lagos state. Any serious politician would therefore take Abesan seriously. It is therefore not surprising that Abesan has become a bride to political parties seeking for votes in the coming Governorship and House of Assemble elections in Lagos state.

Abesan has played host to notable political figures including Nigeria’s vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who in 2019 visited to campaign for the presidential election which he won with President Mohammadu Buhari.

APC in preparation for the March 18 governorship election in Lagos state conducted free Eye Tests, gave free Glasses and free Health Insurance scheme to more than 1000 people in Abesan, a move welcomed and lauded by many community leaders and residents.

Those who attended the event include Political, Religious and Community leaders who all agreed the event couldn’t have come at a better time. They lauded APC and urged people to come out on Saturday, March 18 to vote for the party.



Luqman Orelope, a candidate of APC for Alimosho Constituency 01 at the Lagos State House of Assembly election who was at the event, promised to deliver qualitative representation to the people of Alimosho if voted into office. The first time contender for the office, thanked everybody for coming out and urged them to take advantage of the Free Health Insurance scheme and Eye Glasses. He enjoined the people to vote for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office to consolidate on his achievements.



The Chairman of APC in Mosan Okunola LCDA, Honorable Opeyemi Akindele, while addressing the people said she brought the program to Abesan because it was her home. She noted that the program was not only for APC members or Yoruba speaking residents but everybody living in and around Abesan. “Though it came during a political campaign, this government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu cares about the welfare of all citizens and many people have benefited from the program. It is our turn in Abesan and I am happy it couldn’t have come at a better time,” she said.

Akindele urged people to come out massively to vote for Luqman Orelope and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who everybody agree has done well.

The president of Abesan Estate Residents’ Association, Elder Michael Kehinde who was at the event thanked APC and eulogized Honorable Opeyemi Akindele who he called a daughter of the soil, for bringing a laudable program that is beneficial to residents right to them at their doorstep. He noted that Abesan Estate is known for its high human concentration and urged people to vote on Saturday for a government that cares for them. “This is the only way to show appreciation for the kind gesture”, he noted.

Other people who spoke at the event include a former president of the Estate and pioneer Chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Chief Abel Badejo who pleaded with residents to come out to vote on Saturday. He noted that some people have made it a habit of watching movies, washing clothes or even sleeping during the elections. Chief Badejo who is also an APC party chieftain pleaded with residents to vote massively for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Luqman Orelope at the coming elections.

Also at the event, the Baale of Opeki, High Chief Abatan thanked the APC for bringing the program to the Estate. He prayed for the organisers and urged them to do more for the people. “We thank you for this program which is beneficial to our people. We pray that God will keep and guide you and continue to provide for you so you can do more for us”, he said.

Some of the beneficiaries at the event who spoke with Abesan News, thanked the APC and Hon. Akindele for bringing the program to them. They all promised to vote APC having benefited from the largesse of the party.

Gifts and food items were distributed to those that attended the program.

The Lagos State Environmental protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Ministry of Health were on ground to lend support during the event.
