Misconception on the operation of Truecaller app

I was a little bemused this morning when a supposed security consultant blamed the gov't for the manner names appear on truecaller.

He wondered how a name like 'Baba' could come up when you dial a number. "How's Baba supposed to be someone's name?", he quizzed.

This ignorance was exhibited on a national Radio station during their breakfast show.

He thinks names registered on SIM are the names that come up during calls. He most likely thinks the gov't submit names to the app after registering citizens!

Many people are like this man who are innocently angry. They are sincerely wrong and promoting or exhibiting ignorance, albeit angrily!

Mass Metering: Ikeja Electric trains 140 staff

Ikeja Electric Plc (IE), Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution company, has trained 140 employees to boost metering density and meter management across its network.

Speaking during the presentation of certificates to the graduands, the Chief Executive Officer, Ikeja Electric, Folake Soetan, said Ikeja Electric Metering Academy was launched in 2020 as a result of a shortage in the human capacity for the installation of meters, resulting in the slow pace of metering across its network.

Omatseye, Death Threat & Moderation

Mr Sam Omatseye just reported that he has been receiving death threats from supporters of Mr Peter Obi over his article of yesterday.

That is, without mincing words, condemnable and unacceptable. A threat to one is a threat at all. It is a place we should never get to.

But are we there already? If not so, we are getting dangerously close. Apparently, not many of us are perceptive enough to see that trenches have been dug over time, with people trapped in bubbles therein. They are only able to hear themselves and no-one else, with truth, facts and logic filtered out.

Sam Omatseye As A Kept Man

I had an extravagance of laughter when a dear friend of mine showed me a so-called column written by Sam Omatseye.

To give him his due, Sam Omatseye has been somebody I always wanted to encourage; for instance, agreeing to serve as the official reviewer of his novel at its launch in Lagos barely a week after burying my father in the East.

I had my hilarious laughter upon seeing Sam Omatseye’s column because when you already know the end of a writing after reading just the first sentence, there’s no doubt that the writer is not up to par.

Obi-tuary - In Touch by Sam Omatseye

Suddenly, it is all quiet on the eastern front. No street heckles or flag waving or mooning over a yellow sun, no hooting or baying in public. The rabble no longer raves. Few wonder what happened to the Nnamdi Kanu crowd. Some may wonder if they are withering?

The answer is before our eyes. The Biafran babblers are alive and well. They just swapped icons, rechristened the shrines and rewrote the rites. They left the prophet for a secular priest. They have had a switch of battle gear.

Maybe it is not quiet. We can hear and feel the cacophony. The chants and caterwauling are everywhere, especially on the phones. The twitter bees, the Instagram grimes, the Facebook freaks. They are alive and well, but they have not been at war at the side of their icon, who is griping in detention.

Inside Omatseye’s Heathen Heart by Emmanuel Ogbeche

Sam Omatseye, the Delta state-born chairman of the Nation Newspaper, ignited a firestorm with his graceless piece, Obi-tuary, in the August 1, 2022 edition of the paper. There has been an avalanche of cringing over the article steeped in half-truths and absolute falsehoods.

It is an article that is filled with bile as it is vile; tasteless, gangster-like, and morbid. Reading the1,329 worded write-up is like wading through a field of putrid. It ranks foul as it is revolting.
