SLG / Supervisors Appointees: Council Chairmen Ignore Ambode's List, Swear in Their Candidates

Council Chairmen in Alimosho Local Government have ignored Governor Ambode's list and proceeded to swear in their own list of SLGs and Supervisors on Monday 6th November, 2017 in a ceremony most of them held in their offices, privately with only the party leaders in attendance in most cases.

Alimosho Standard reliably gathered that what was done in nearly all the Councils was that a list was presented to the legislative arm by the Chairmen for screening. This list contained the names of those on the list of the governor and those of the leaders. While in some LCDAs, the people on the list were screened successfully, in others, those on the governor's list were screened out and the list of leaders, sworn in. All these happened on Monday, 6th November, 2017 at every Local Council in Alimosho.

While the Legal officers of the Councils who are constitutionally empowered to administer oath of office were absent in some, it is not confirmed if they were present in any.

The question then arises...If the legal officer did not swear them in, are they constitutionally backed to perform duties as Supervisors?

The battle for supremacy in Alimosho politics between the governor and the leaders has definitely begun. It is going to be a long battle and Alimosho Standard will be here to update you as it unfolds.
