SLGs / Supervisor's Lists: Ambode Will Not Have His Way in Alimosho – Party Leaders

memo to commissioner
SLGs, Supervisors: 4 Lists Available Now,
Ambode Will Not Have His Way in Alimosho – Party Leaders

An APC chieftain in Alimosho close to the party leaders has spoken with Alimosho Standard on anonymous grounds. Speaking on Saturday 4th November at his residence, he told us there is no going back on the resolve of the leaders of APC in Alimosho to field their candidates as SLGs and Supervisors.

4 LISTS AVAILABLE NOW
According to the undisclosed source, there are 4 lists making rounds presently of the appointments to offices at the Local Councils in Alimosho. The first list is the one prepared by party leaders and sent to Gov. Ambode. This list has the names of the people who have labored for the party at the polls and at different times in the past and are loyal to the leadership of the party in Alimosho. These are the people the party leaders have anointed and presented to the governor to use in his own list.

The second list is the list the governor did with stakeholders from the communities. This according to the source is a way the governor wants to be visible in each Local Government and to importantly, checkmate the activities of the Council Chairmen. The governor was said to have used his own people as SLGs and also taken a slot in the Supervisory roles, leaving the rest for the leaders of the party.

The third list is the list a close governor’s aide who was given the responsibility to work on the list did to favour his cronies. This time, he was said to have removed almost all the names sent to the governor by the leaders of the party and included his personal friends and in some cases, girlfriends. One of such people is a lady who is said to be selling pepper but has been included in the list as a Supervisor. In a Council, someone who doesn’t even attend party meetings and who doesn’t know the party members was included as the SLG. Another case is of a man who does not live in the Local Council but was brought from another area entirely to be a Supervisor. This list is said to be the one in circulation presently as the governor’s list. The governor is said to be unaware of the changes made to this list and is therefore not up to date with what is happening because he has been shielded by this close aide from talking to party leaders on the issue.

The fourth list is the new one the party leaders are working on presently. This list includes the original list and the new input by Ambode who the leaders are comfortable working with. According to the source, this list will be used on or before Monday to swear in the SLGs and the Supervisors at the different Councils in Alimosho if they decide to beat the deadline given by the state.

The leaders have vowed that governor Ambode will not have his way on this issue. It is either their candidates are sworn in or nobody is sworn in. It is not possible in Alimosho that Ambode will dictate to them. One of the leaders was quoted to have said Alimosho is different and it is what they want that the governor will do. After all it is Tinubu’s country.
Meanwhile, in the memo sent by the commissioner for local government and community affairs to the Council chairmen, they are expected to swear in the list from Ambode before 6pm on Monday 6th November, 2017. The leaders are however bent on having their way or no way at all. The consequence on the chairmen is unknown.

Our source claims it is better for the Council chairmen to fall into the hands of Ambode than the leaders because Ambode will come and go but the leaders will continue to be there in the party after Ambode leaves. There is therefore a likelihood that the chairmen will most likely swear in the fourth list and ignore Ambode’s list if they are working towards meeting the deadline set by the state government.
