Folashade Folivi, MD of LBIC Is Now Powerless – Hon. Bisi Yusuf

Delegation from Lagos state House of Assembly on a visit to Abesan 

Meeting with a delegation that visited him in his Ipaja constituency office to thank him for his support and to urge him to do more for the people of Abesan estate recently, Hon. Bisi Yusuf representing Alimosho constituency 01 at the Lagos state House of Assembly noted that the powers wielded by the MD of LBIC, Ms. Folashade Folivi that made her demolish structures in some Jakande estates in Lagos have been stripped off her by the House.

“For us in the House, welfare of the people comes first. The Lagos state House of Assembly cannot be rubbished and we have made her know she doesn’t have power to demolish or even develop. She is unknown to us and we have reduced her power to zero.” He said.

Ms. Folashade Folivi visited Jakande estates in Lagos in 2017 and despite plea by well meaning and influential people in the society which includes Pa. Lateef Jakande himself, she demolished structures she called illegal which brought untoward hardship to the people who used the structures as shops.

Though she did not carry out any form of demolition in Abesan, the fear of destruction of property following her visit made people carry out the ‘demolition’ themselves to salvage their belongings. Abesan estate has since been in a mess with abandoned structures everywhere. Nobody has come to fully demolish and the owners have not rebuilt.
