President of Dangote Group and Africa’s richest man, is sending about 800 Nigerians to India, to learn the operations of a petrochemical refinery.
It was learnt that the 800 Nigerians will travel to the Asian country over the next 24 months in a batch of fifties, to learn from the nation with the largest refinery in the world.
India is home to the world’s largest refinery, Jamnagar Refinery Reliance Industries, Jamnagar, which refines as much as 1.2 million barrels per day.
“About 800 will be trained in batches within 24 months. The first batch of 50 is leaving for India on Sunday,” the source said.
Dangote is looking to creating employment within the Nigerian economy, rather than importing expatriates to run the first private refinery in Nigeria.
The refinery, projected to worth $9 billion, is being built to have a refining capacity of about 500,000 to 650,000 barrels per day.
“After receiving a private licence to build a refinery, Dangote has commenced the building of a 650,000 barrel per day (BPD) petroleum refinery, which will be the single largest in the world.
“The refinery would have a larger capacity than all of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) refineries put together,” the conglomerate said in a statement more than a year ago.
Dangote, who hosted Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), at the site of the refinery in January, assured Nigerians that the refinery would be ready to meet the nation’s need by 2018.

TRAGEDY IN PLATEAU: Senator, House Leader, 50 others killed

JOS— The dark cloud of death that has been stalking Plateau State thickened, yesterday, after Senator Gyang Dantong and the Majority Leader of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Gyang Fulani were killed while attending the mass burial of about 50 victims of Saturday’s attack on villages in Barkin Ladi and Riyom local government areas of the state. The killing of the lawmakers came on the heels of the discovery, yesterday, of the remains of over 50 persons mostly women and children burnt inside the residence of a local pastor where they had taken refuge following the attack on about 14 villages by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Saturday. The two lawmakers were reportedly gunned down at Maseh village in Riyom LGA where over 50 victims of Saturday’s attack were being buried. The gunmen reportedly stormed the venue and opened fire on those present, causing more deaths. GRIEF—Relations of the late Senator Gyang Dantong at his residence in Jos, yesterday. Photo: NAN. Member representing Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Simon Mwadkon was lucky as he escaped with injuries and was resuscitated at the Barkin-Ladi General Hospital where he was rushed to after he fainted. Senator Dantong was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP senator representing the Plateau North Senatorial District and was until his death yesterday, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health. The developments which sparked angry reactions across Plateau State was immediately flayed by the senate with Senate President David Mark describing the death as a personal loss. Senator Dantong’s colleagues in the Senate including Senate spokesman, Enyinnanya Abaribe; Senators Pius Ehwerido and Ifeanyi Okowa also paid tributes to a man they described as a gentleman. Speaker Aminu Tambuwal of the House of Representatives also joined in the condemnation of the killings, describing Senator Dantong as a man of peace whose death is highly regrettable. The death of the 50 persons in the residence of the pastor of the Church of Christ in Nigeria at Maseh village was believed to have been the handiwork of the suspected Fulani herdsmen who were believed to have torched the house when they discovered that the people had taken refuge there. Gyang Fulani, and Senator Gyang Dantong The killing of the lawmakers sparked off angry reactions around the plateau as youths took over the highway to protest what they described as a genocide against the Berom people allegedly by the Fulani. The angry reaction following yesterday’s killings forced many motorists travelling along the Jos-Riyom highway to turn back to avoid being caught in the disturbance. The Permanent Secretary in charge of security in the Cabinet Office, Mr. Istifanus Gyang confirmed the killing of the two lawmakers. Condemnation greets killings Commenting on the killings, a Jos-based civil rights group, Centre for the Advocacy of Justice and Rights in a statement by its Director, Mr. Gad Peter called for the sacking of all security chiefs in the country. “It is a clear indictment of the inability of the Special Task Force and the Federal Government to provide security for the citizens of Plateau State. It is also a clear statement that we are no longer safe in this country. “We demand the mass retirement of all security chiefs and for Mr. President to give us a roadmap on how he intends to solve the Plateau crises and other issues of insecurity in the Northern part of the country within two weeks. “We use this opportunity to appeal to the people of Plateau State not to take the law into their hands”, the statement said. Violence broke out in parts of Jos and other Berom communities as news of the killing of the senator and the majority leader spread as youths took over the highways in Rayfield, Bukuru and other areas to protest the killings. Security men had difficult time restoring order as the youth accused them of being effective only in checking them while the Fulani herdsmen, who they alleged perpetrated the killings, had a field day. Describing the death of the senator as a great shock, Senator Mark in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, noted that the death of Dantong was a personal loss. He, however, warned that, “the incessant killings of innocent Nigerians must be stopped,” adding that the federal government, state and local governments and security operatives must rise to halt the senseless killings. “We must do everything within the ambit of our laws to ensure that this type of murderous act is stopped. As a nation, we must just rise against those who are determined to return us to a state of nature where life had little or no value.” According to Senator Mark, the deceased was “a patriotic parliamentarian, quintessential gentleman and committed nationalist who was killed in active service to his fatherland.” Senator Abaribe, stressed that the murder of Senator Dantong was a tragedy to the Senate and described him as a calm, gentle, unassuming, loving and humane doctor. Also reacting, Dantong’s Vice in the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, described the late Senator as a calm man who was passionate about his work and his people, adding that he was always going on weekends to have a feeling of his people’s problems. Senator Ehwerido on his part said yesterday: ”Senator Dantong was a distinguished colleague and gentleman. It’s painful to lose him in this barbarous manner.” Speaker Tambuwal in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Imam Imam said the incessant killings in the state and other parts of the country must be stopped forthwith. While condoling with the government and people of Plateau State over the losses, the Speaker said the House of Representatives in particular, and the National Assembly in general, will continue to liaise with other arms of government and security agencies to find lasting solution to the spate of violence bedeviling the nation. According to the Speaker, criminal groups hide under different guises to cause mayhem in the country, as such, Nigerians should remain resolute in their quest for lasting peace. He said Nigeria is greater than any group, and expressed optimism that this dark period in our history would soon pass. The Peoples Democratic Party in its reaction expressed utter shock at renewed violence in Plateau State describing as heinous and reprehensible the Sunday violent attack that claimed the lives of Senator Dantong, Mr. Gyang A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh said the party was deeply worried and regretted that the development was coming as Federal Government was making fresh efforts to tackle the nation’s security challenges. Curfew in parts of Plateau Meanwhile, the state government has imposed a curfew in some areas of the state. A statement signed by Commissioner for Information and Communication, Yiljap Abraham said: “In view of the prevailing security situation, the Governor of Plateau State Dr Jonah Jang is hereby imposing a curfew in the following areas: Jos North, Jos South, Barkin Ladi and Riyom LGAs with immediate effect. The curfew will start from 7.30 today to 7.00 tomorrow morning, while the curfew starts 6pm tomorrow to 7am till further notice”.

How To Lighten Dark Spots around Your Pubic Area

Here are the top 10 ways to easily lighten the dark skin along your bikini line.

1. Aloe Vera

Aloevera is a popular natural skin lightener. When used on a regular basis, it can help skin become lighter and fade different skin spots. It even helps repair skin cells and promotes natural regeneration.
According to a 2010 study published in the Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research, among many skin benefits of aloe vera, it can clear dark spots and even make the skin clear.
  1. Extract the gel from an aloe vera leaf.
  2. Apply it directly on the dark pubic area.
  3. Leave it on for about 20 minutes, then wash it off with water.
  4. Use this natural treatment once daily for quick results.

2. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice works as a great skin-lightening remedy, thanks to its acidic property. The vitamin C in it helps get rid of dead cells and improve overall skin tone. It also stimulates regeneration of healthy skin cells.
You can use either of these remedies daily until you are satisfied with the results.
  • Cut a lemon in half and rub the inner part along your bikini line for a couple of minutes. Allow the juice to remain on the skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water.
  • Mix the juice from ½ of a lemon with 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt and ½ teaspoon of honey. Apply it to the delicate area. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse the area with water.
As lemon juice can dry out your skin, apply a moisturizer or just coconut oil after using these remedies.
Note: Avoid applying lemon juice if you’ve recently waxed your bikini area, as it can lead to skin irritation. Also, do not expose your skin to the sun for 1 to 2 days after using either of the lemon juice remedies.

3. Cucumber Juice

Cucumber juice has skin-lightening properties. The vitamin A in cucumbers helps reduce skin darkness by controlling your skin’s production of melanin.
Plus, the high water content helps keep the skin hydrated and glowing.
  • Extract the juice from ½ of a cucumber and apply it all over your bikini area. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water. Repeat twice daily for quick results.
  • Alternatively, mix 2 tablespoons of cucumber juice with ½ tablespoon each of lemon juice and turmeric powder. Apply it to your dark pubic area. Keep it on the skin for 10 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water. Repeat once daily.

4. Orange Peel

Instead of throwing away the peels after eating oranges, you can use them for their skin-lightening properties. The peels work as a natural bleach and can help lighten dark blotches and remove them over time. They can even help lighten a suntan.
The peels contain more vitamin C than the orange pulp itself. This vitamin plays a key role in combating free-radical damage that destroys functioning skin cells and can make your skin shine with a glow.
  1. Put peels from a couple of oranges in the sun to dry.
  2. Once dry, grind the peels into a fine paste.
  3. Mix 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder and 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. You can also add a little honey to the mixture.
  4. Apply it over your bikini line where you have dark skin.
  5. Allow it to dry, then scrub off the paste with wet hands.
  6. Finally, rinse the area with cool water.
  7. Repeat two times a week.

5. Tomatoes

Tomatoes have a bleaching effect and hence act as a skin-lightening agent. The lycopene, an antioxidant in tomatoes, helps protect skin against sun damage. It makes skin less sensitive to UV damage, one of the main causes of a dark bikini line.
It can even help get rid of dead skin from the bikini area as well as other body parts.
  1. Rub a piece of tomato in circular motions on the dark skin for a couple of minutes.
  2. Allow the juice to remain on the skin for 10 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water.
  3. Repeat once daily.

6. Almonds

Both whole almonds and almond oil can help lighten and even out your skin tone in the bikini area.
The high vitamin E and A content as well as the essential fatty acids in almond oil help nourish, soothe and moisturize your skin. Whole almonds are beneficial for exfoliating and softening the skin.
  • Soak 5 or 6 whole almonds overnight. The next morning, grind them into a smooth paste. Mix 1 tablespoon of whole milk into the paste and apply it on the affected skin. Wait 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse gently while rubbing the paste around in circular motions. Repeat 2 or 3 times a week for best results.
  • Also, massage the area with warm almond oil for about 5 minutes daily before going to bed.

7. Milk

Milk is another natural skin lightener that you can definitely use to lighten the dark skin in your pubic area. The lactic acid in milk helps reduce the skin’s pigmentation, resulting in a lighter complexion. It also helps keep the skin well-moisturized.
  1. Put a cup of cold milk in a bowl.
  2. Dip a cotton cloth in it.
  3. Put this dipped cloth over the dark skin for 5 minutes.
  4. Repeat the process a few more times.
  5. Finally, massage the area gently for a few minutes and then rinse it with water.
  6. Repeat this remedy at least twice daily to get quick results.

8. Baking Soda

You can also try using baking soda to help lighten the skin along your bikini line, provided you do not have sensitive skin. Its fine, grainy texture works as a perfect exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells.
It even prevents excess sweating, one of the causes of skin discoloration along skin folds.
  1. Mix together baking soda and water in a ratio of 3:1 to form a paste.
  2. Apply it on the dark skin area and allow it to dry.
  3. Rinse it off with cool water.
  4. Use this remedy 2 times a week only.
Note: Those who have sensitive skin should not use this remedy.

9. Papayas

The enzyme papain in papayas helps get rid of skin darkness. This enzyme offers a natural bleaching property that helps even out the skin tone. It also accelerates shedding of dead skin cells that cause the bikini area to appear darkened.
Plus, the high vitamin C content in papayas protects skin cells against sun damage.
Use either of these remedies daily or every other day.
  • Rub ¼ cup of ripe papaya pulp on the dark area of your bikini line for 5 minutes. Allow the papaya juice to work its magic for 10 to 15 minutes, and then rinse it off with cool water.
  • Blend ¼ cup of green papaya and ½ teaspoon each of vitamin E oil, honey and plain yogurt into a paste. Gently massage the paste onto your skin. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes, then rinse it off with cool water.

  10. Sandalwood

Sandalwood is another very effective solution for lightening the skin of your bikini area. It can enhance skin complexion as well as treat hyperpigmentation. It can give your skin a natural, even tone.
  1. Squeeze the juice from ½ of a lemon into 3 to 4 teaspoons of sandalwood powder.
  2. Mix thoroughly to make a smooth paste.
  3. Add a little rose water if the paste is too thick.
  4. Apply it on the affected skin before going to bed and leave it on overnight.
  5. Wash it off in the morning with cool water.
6.       Repeat daily until your skin looks lighter.
Additional Tips
  • Exfoliate around the delicate pubic area once a week to get rid of dead skin cells and prevent skin irritation.
  • When wearing a bikini or shorts, apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 to prevent the exposed skin from darkening.
  • Wear breathable, cotton underwear that is loose and comfortable.
  • Do not shave the pubic area or use hair-removal lotions, which can damage the delicate skin. Waxing is a better option for hair removal in this area, and it will not cause any skin discoloration.
  • Use only mild soap to clean the delicate skin of the pubic area.
  • Eat a healthy diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables, whole-grain cereals and lean meat for overall healthy skin.
  • Drink an ample amount of water to flush out toxins and keep your skin smooth and properly hydrated.
