GWAT COLLEGE HOLDS 2ND BI-ANNUAL INTER HOUSE SPORTS

Management, staff and students of GWAT Private Schools, a Ghana-Nigeria School, on 6th of March, 2015 had their 2nd Bi-Annual Inter-House Sports Competition amidst funfair and euphoria.
The event which was held at Community Primary School, Isheri Olofin, Lagos was graced by dignitaries. A few of the people present include High Chief S.A Olufemi, Baale of Odemuyiwa Kingdom and his wife, Apostle Rotimi Temituro, the Chairman of the day and the Senior Pastor of Zion Apostles Ministry and his wife, the school’s PTA chairman, Mr. Daramola S.O, Parents and Well Wishers.
GWAT Private School, located at 2, Mufutau Adeyemi Str. Orelope B/Stop, Egbeda with another Branch at 3/5, Samuel Banjo Str., Abule Odu B/Stop, Egbeda Lagos was founded 15 years ago by Mr. W. Tartey, a man who brought his wealth of experience from the teaching field into founding a world class school known for academic excellence. The school which boasts of 100% success in their internal and external exams attends different excursions and competitions from time to time to broaden the knowledge of the students.
One of the parents who had come to support her children, Mrs. Monye Mabel who has children in both primary and secondary schools, spoke with Abesan News. An excited parent said she wanted the Inter-House sports to hold every year. A parent who has been with the school for 7 years said she is impressed with their educational standard as that is the reason she has been with them for that long. She prayed for more wisdom for the Proprietor of the school and wished the children the best in their Inter-House Sports competitions.
The chairman of the occasion in his opening speech advised the students to take their sports seriously as they could be on National Television running for Nigeria in the future. He however told them that the raise of life is more important as everybody that finishes is a winner unlike the inter-House Sports where only 1st 2nd 3rd are recognised.
The event started with oath taking by the Games officials and then the lightening and passing-on of the Games Touch. It was quickly followed by a beautiful March Past which was won by Yellow House. Other events held simultaneously as Yellow House carried the day by coming first overall.
Olumide Hamzat of Yellow House emerged the fastest boy in the school having won the 100meters senior boys race while Joy Ohis of Red House became the fastest girl having won the 100meters senior girls race.
The Houses that participated in the competition are Love, Peace, Success and Wisdom representing Blue, Yellow, Green and Red respectively.
The highlight of the event was the march past when the students rode on Horse and drove SUVs, It was beautiful and colourful. We congratulate the school on the successful event.
