JONATHAN AWOBODU AND SAMUEL NWAENIYI EMERGE WINNERS OF THE PRELIMINARY MOSAN/OKUNOLA SPELLING BEE COMPETITION HELD TODAY

The preliminary edition of the very popular SPELLING BEE competition in Mosan/Okunola LCDA for 2015 has produced Jonathan Awobodu and Samuel Nwaeniyi as winners of the primary and secondary categories respectively. 8 pupils slogged it out in the primary category while 16 fought-it-out in the secondary category.
In her opening remarks, Hon. Opeyemi Adunni Akindele, the Executive Secretary of Mosan/Okunola, after welcoming the pupils, appreciated the initiator of the competition, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is of note that Spelling Bee competition was made popular during the tenure of the former governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the first lady at that time, who is now a Senator, initiated it. The winner of the competition automatically becomes a governor for one day. The joy and fame that come with being the governor for a day to the pupil, parents and the school made the competition very competitive.  
 The Executive Secretary encouraged the pupils to put in their best to win and represent the Council and maybe, go ahead to win the competition to become the One-day Governor of the State. She noted that a pupil in Mosan/Okunola, Master Emeka Chibuike made the LCDA proud the previous year to win the competition. She also encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously as it is the key to a good future. She told them to believe they can do everything they set their mind to do and to be good ambassadors of Mosan/Okunola.
The Lagos State officials who presided, told the winners that will be representing the Local Council Development Area at the State level to prepare for a stiffer competition as the one for the State level will be more demanding and tasking. The team include Mr. Adesina, Mrs. Idris, Mrs. Alade and Ms. Olaitan.
Officials of Mosan/Okunola present at the event include the Head Of Department of Education and staff of her department, other H.O.Ds and their staff. Also present were the executive cabinet members of Mosan/Okunola, Evangelist Funsho Babatope the Supervisor for Education, Hon. Eniola Oladele and Hon. Memudu Azeez.
The Executive Secretary who had to leave for an important engagement was represented by Mrs. Adebisi Adegbore for the rest of the event.
In her closing remark, Mrs. Adebisi Adegbore who is an Educationist, congratulated the winners and admonished those that did not win to take it in good faith. She encouraged the winners to prepare for the tougher task of representing the LCDA and to make sure they come home with nothing short of victory.
The winners of the event in the Primary school category are Jonathan Awobodu, Akintunde Zaynab and Cosmas Ruth, coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively. The secondary school category winners are Nwaeniyi Samuel, Olufemi Abimbola and Olaniyan Marvelous, who emerged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.
