On Friday 12
December 2016, The Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the
Senate, Solomon Olamilekan aka YAYI was slammed by his facebook fans for
posting pictures showing him and a Regional Manager of MTN having his barred
line re-registered in his office.
Those who don’t know
the enormous work being done at the Senate feel a Senator should have all the
time to go to the sun and queue to be registered at MTN registration centers
spending almost a whole day like normal citizens.
An innocent Senator
who wanted to let people, especially his constituents know his line was barred
and he was working on it, maybe for those who might have been calling without
getting through to him, took to his facebook page to tell his fans he was
working on his line being unbarred .
Things like that
definitely don’t come cheap, but for someone of YAYI’s status and caliber,
anybody, even a Regional Manager will be willing to personally register him
knowing he is a very kind man.
But hey, most of
his fans on facebook might not have seen him as too busy to go to MTN center to
register but saw it as a way to show off his position and status as many
slammed him in their posts.
A fan, Ayo
George was furious as he wondered why the Senator will show off to the people
that voted him into office. In his words,
“you are the kind of Senator we need to get rid of…why rub shit in the face of
those that elected you…why did MTN have to come to your office…Total abuse of
power…”. Another fan, Anamika Bukola Adeyemi burst out “So what should we do about it…Please get to work, other citizen went
tru this under the sun and you are there showcasing preferential treatment”
For many who
know Senator YAYI to be hardworking and humble, they will definitely not agree
with these fans above. For Olusesi Daramola, also a facebook fan, he pleaded
with people not to take out their frustration on the Senator. In his words, “He is a busy man with our work. He hardly
finds that spare time to go and register. Please let us learn to respect our
leader”. Another fan, Oladipupo Bolaji sees it as opportunity to campaign
for the Senator against 2019. He seemed to be calling on him to contest in Ogun
in 2019. In his words, “that is good my Senator.
God bless you, God bless Lagos, God bless Ogun state and God bless Nigeria. Ogun
state awaiting you against 2019. Yayi ni jooooo”.
There were
however some comic posts by some fans. Alabi Wasiu pleaded with others to allow
oga enjoy his turn because it is turn
by turn, Helen Orokpo asked when MTN will be in her house to register her own
line, Akinola Olugbenga noted it has gotten to the Senator’s side too and
concluded with “It is well oooo”.
