Ogunwuyi Visits and Compensates Victims of Razed Abesan Building

Barr. Rotimi Ogunwuyi, the Sole Administrator of Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) visited the residents of Block 520 in Abesan Housing Estate earlier today to re-assess the state of the building and identify with the victims of the fire incident.
Penultimate Sunday, February 5, fire broke out in one of the flats while most of the occupants were away in several places of worship. The inferno destroyed properties and razed down the two flats at the top floor. Although the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency - Rapid Response Unit made it to the site, the fire left the flats in ruins and property were destroyed in the process.
The council head expressed his sincere appreciation to the occupants of the affected building and thanked them for their cooperation in adhering to safety and evacuation procedures. He assured them of the council's support at all times. He equally met and spoke with the owners of the damaged flats.
After his tour of the affected site, Barr. Ogunwuyi on behalf of the local government handed out cheques to the direct victims of the fire incident, that is, the owners and tenants of the affected flats. He pointed out that while no amount of financial compensation can bring back their losses, his administration will continue to empathize with them and remain sensitive to their plight.
He used the opportunity to assure the residents of the estate of his commitment for continued infrastructural development. He pledged to work with the state government in ensuring the completed Fire Service station in the estate becomes operational soon.
The Sole Administrator was accompanied by the council's Head of Administration (HOA), Engr. Martins Odupitan and other staff from the Department of Agric and Information Unit.
Abesan Estate Residents Association (AERA), Community Development Association (CDA) and Community Development Committee (CDC) representatives, took time to express their appreciation and renewed their calls for a functional Fire Service station in the Estate.
