Rotimi Ogunwuyi declares for Lagos state House of Assembly

A former sole administrator of Mosan Okunola LCDA and aide to the deputy senate president, Barrister Rotimi Ogunwuyi on Saturday, 9^th April 2022 declared his intention to run for office as member representing Alimosho constituency 01 at the Lagos state House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

The event which was held at Mosan Okunola party secretariat, Gate bus stop in Mosan Okunola, had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life. Those present at the event include leaders of APC in Alimosho, political office holders, ward executive of Alimosho constituency 01 which comprise of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Mosan Okunola LCDA, Agbado-OkeOdo LCDA and Alimosho LG.

Notable at the meeting are Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Urban & Physical Planning, Hon. Ganiu Adele Ayuba, Party Chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Chief Mrs. R.O Onasanya, leaders of the party in Alimosho, OmoOba Akin Falade, Engineer Balaja and Captain Ketiku. Others are Vice chairman of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. Dayo Osinowo (Papa Di), former Secretary to Local Government of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. Ayo Orimolade, present and past Councilors of Mosan Okunola LCDA and many other party faithfuls.

While swearing in the ward executive in the four LG comprising Alimosho constituency 01, the D.G, Barrister Ogunwuyi campaign organization, a prominent Yoruba actor, Aina Gold, admonished those sworn in to avoid distractions and sell the candidacy of Barrister Ogunwuyi as the best man for the job.

Aina Gold noted that he would not have been involved if he wasn’t sure of the quality of candidate he was selling. “Having been a sole administrator in charge of Mosan Okunola, and having performed very well in other positions both in his private work and party appointments, you will agree with me that Barrister Ogunwuyi is the candidate to beat” Aina Gold noted.

During his speech, Barrister Ogunwuyi who noted that he had been aspiring to this position since 2003 thanked everybody for believing in him. He also thanked the party for supporting and believing in his aspiration, a decision he promised they will not regret. “I have been in this struggle since 2003 but have stepped down on different occasions according to the dictates of the party. I thank the party represented here today by Chief Mrs. R.O Onasanya for believing and supporting me”, he said.

Barrister Ogunwuyi who identified the main job of the legislature as making laws promised to ensure the wish of the people will be sponsored at the House if he is elected. He also promised to hold periodic Town hall meetings to feel the pulse of the people, work on needs of the different LGs as are peculiar to them. He also noted that the youths will be well taken care of through empowerment especially through technology which is the main thing now.

The elderly, the widows and widowers will be taken care of and soft loans given to those in need.

Finally, the Lagos House of Assembly (LsHA) hopeful, encouraged those present to get their PVC, a tool that will make their intentions come to fruition. 

Barrister Rotimi Ogunwuyi is to face other contenders to clinch the party's ticket to represent A.P.C at the polls in 2023.

Alimosho constituency 01 comprises of Alimosho LG, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Mosan-Okunola LCDA and Agbado-Okeodo LCDA. The office is currently being occupied by Hon. Bisi Yusuf, a three-time member of the Lagos state House of Assembly.
