IKEJA ELECTRIC COMMISSIONS NEW SUBSTATION TO BOOST POWER SUPPLY IN LAGOS
Lagos, Nigeria - August 1, 2025 - Ikeja Electric Plc has commissioned a new 15MVA injection substation in Abaranje, Ikotun, Lagos State, to improve power supply reliability for thousands of residents and businesses.
The Kwaru Injection Substation, equipped with advanced technology, aims to enhance electricity reliability for approximately 50,000 residents and businesses, support economic development, and reduce transmission losses.
Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who attended the commissioning ceremony, praised Ikeja Electric's commitment to infrastructure development, saying, "This commissioning is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the current administration to transforming Nigeria's power sector. Our goal is to ensure stable and affordable electricity for every Nigerian."
Ikeja Electric's CEO, Mrs. Folake Soetan, expressed satisfaction with the project's completion, stating that the substation represents the company's pursuit of service excellence and promise to provide reliable power supply.
The new substation is designed to improve electricity reliability, reduce transmission losses, and boost load management capabilities, ensuring a more stable and efficient energy utilization. The project demonstrates the feasibility of accelerated infrastructure development through proper planning, stakeholder engagement, and technical expertise, serving as a model for future power sector investments in Lagos State.
The commissioning of the Kwaru Injection Substation is a significant milestone in Ikeja Electric's ongoing efforts to modernize its network and deliver enhanced service to its over one million customers.
