GUN MEN ATTACK MOSAN/OKUNOLA LCDA SECRETARIAT ON THE EVE OF ELECTION; SHOOT SPORADICALLY,VANDALISE CARS

Since most of the staff of Mosan/Okunola LCDA secretariat spend most part of the day at the Council, many of them registered at a polling unit close to their place of work. That singular decision could have been there undoing but for their God who definitely wasn’t sleeping when armed men came to their office to rain bullets on them.
Since movement on Election Day was restricted, the Staff decided to spend the night at the Council and to make the place lively, they decided to play music all night to keep themselves awake and probably to dance and have some fun. All that was not to be as at about 11pm, masked men dressed in black stormed the place and shot sporadically hitting many targets and shattering the windscreen of 5 cars that were parked at the car park. There were bullet holes on the walls, office doors, on the Gate.
What could have been their intention? When Abesan News spoke with the Council Chairman, Mr. Omoloju in his office, he was full of thanks to God that the bullet didn’t hit anybody. He explained how the staff had decided to stay in the Council overnight since most of them were to vote at a polling unit close to their office. With the extent of damage and the manner it was carried out, the Council Chairman who was present when the whole incident happened said the boys that did that must have been under the influence of hard drug. Taking Abesan News crew round the premises, he told us a few staff were outside when they came and even greeted them, thinking they were Police men. He said they had police protection before but just when the team stepped out to patrol, an Okada came, probably to confirm the absence of the Police and then men numbering about 10 came in a Bus to cause the mayhem.  Those met outside were severely beaten with machete and told to lie down on the floor while the whole shooting was carried out.
The police responded less than ten minutes when the incident happened but the men were already gone. When Abesan News called the Lagos Police PRO DSP Keneth Nwosu, he couldn’t say anything as he wasn’t aware of the incident.
When we spoke with the Executive Secretary of Mosan/Okunola, Hon. Opeyemi Adunni Akindele where she was voting, she expressed shock at what happened. She was thankful however that nobody was hit by the bullets.
