Gunmen abduct custom officer's wife in Ogun, demand N200m



The Ogun State Police Command has said it is on the trail of the
abductors of an interior designer and Customs officer's wife, Patricia Sandra Ola, at Imeko area of the State.

Patricia Sandra Ola, 42 who was on her way home after visiting her husband, Abiola Ola an officer with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Ogun state was kidnapped by a gang who claim to be smugglers at the nation's border.

The incident happened on 7th November, 2021 while she was driving in a blue 2011 Toyota Camry car with Abuja registration number, KWL405AX.



The nature of her husband, Abiola Ola, who is known widely for his unwillingness to compromise his stand at his duty post might not be unconnected to the abduction, a family source told us. It was gathered that the gunmen made it clear that they are smugglers when they put a call across to the family to ask for ransom.

“The gunmen emerged from the bush at Olubo village to attack the woman”, the police stated. Sources told our paper that the victim’s car was left in the middle of the road, where it was discovered by the police.



It was also gathered that two empty shells of AK-47 ammunition were discovered at the scene of the incident.

The spokesman of the Ogun Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the abduction, said the “police detectives are on the trail of the kidnappers.”

In recent times, cases of kidnapping have become commonplace in the state. "Recall that recently, a community leader in Imope, Ijebu-North Local Government, Chief Tajudeen Omotayo, known as Alademeta, was kidnapped. The abductors reached out to his relatives and demanded N100 million as a ransom.

Just a few months ago, two students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Yewa Campus, Precious Adeyemi and Abiola Oyefule, were abducted while returning to their hostel.

A 25-year-old woman, Mariam Fagbohun, was abducted by a six-man gang in Ijoun, Yewa North local council area, which led to the subsequent murder of her 50-year-old mother." the spokesperson of the police told our correspondent.

The abductors of Patricia Sandra Ola have asked for a ransom of N200 million, according to family sources.
