The Old students of Community Grammar School (CGS), Ipaja, Alimosho, Lagos, took a nostalgic trip down memory lane during their grand reunion event on October 14th, 2023. The event, held at a stunning location in Lagos, was a heartwarming gathering for the pioneer set of the school, particularly the 1992 batch, who hadn't seen each other for over three decades. The ambiance was electrifying as they reunited with former classmates and cherished teachers and even got support from nearby Awori High School's 1992 set.
The occasion featured the inauguration of the new executive
committee for the Alumni Association and served as a remarkable reunion. The
event attracted renowned captains of industries who were once students of CGS.
Moreover, the presence of their former teachers added even more significance to
the celebration.

The newly sworn-in executive committee, led by President
Adesoji Haastrop, Vice President Aderonke Sangobowale, and General Secretary
Arolambo Adekemi, vowed to build upon the achievements of their predecessors.
The committee consists of dedicated individuals in various roles ready to
propel the Alumni Association forward.
old teachers present at the event
The event was abuzz with joyous recollections and shared
memories from their school days. Both former students and teachers reflected on
transformative events that shaped their lives. Notable attendees from the
teaching staff included former principal Mrs. Opaleye, former vice principal
and now a Royal father, HRH Moshood Majekodunmi, and the current principal,
Mrs. Rashidat Ayobami Lawal, among others. As a gesture of gratitude, all
teachers present received awards and cash donations in recognition of their
invaluable contributions.
The event's highlight was the generous donations and pledges
made towards improving the school's infrastructure. Led by Chief Launcher
Anthony Eyemonu and co-launcher Pastor Kunle Tanimonu, the old students
surpassed their initial fundraising target in a display of unwavering support
and unity. Notably, Mr. Gbenga Ogunwwale, the senior prefect of the 1992 set at
Awori High School, made a noteworthy contribution. He is married to Dr. Olabisi
Ogunwale (née Sadiq), who happened to be the senior prefect (girls) at CGS same
time. This heartwarming union became an opportunity for the CGS students to
humorously demand a "bride price" from him for marrying one of their
own, in a lighthearted and playful manner. It added a touch of happy nostalgia
to the already beautiful event.
To ensure the smooth flow of the reunion, the event was skillfully anchored by Joseph Busayo Abiye, a member of the 1992 set, and Ogunleye Babafemi from the class of 1998. Their charismatic hosting kept the atmosphere vibrant and engaging throughout the evening.
The magical evening of beautiful memories, heartfelt
reunions, and inspiring accomplishments truly captured the essence of the grand
reunion. As they bid farewell to the event, everyone left with renewed
connections and a shared commitment to continue supporting their beloved alma
mater.
