OGUN STATE KIDNAPPING: 76-Year-Old Grandmother, Daughter Released After 12-Hour Ordeal

OGUN STATE KIDNAPPING: 76-Year-Old Grandmother, Daughter Released After 12-Hour Ordeal

Abeokuta, Ogun State - A 76-year-old grandmother, Mrs. Adesanya Kikelomo Ramota, and her 46-year-old daughter, Adebimpe Aminat Adesanya, were kidnapped on Thursday, October 8, 2024, while returning from their farm in Idi-ori forest, near Imala Ogun state, Nigeria.

The Ogun State Police Command revealed the incident during a briefing on Friday, October 11, 2024. According to Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, the victims were abducted by four unidentified individuals in an unmarked vehicle and taken to an unknown location.

The victims were released after three days in captivity, with a threatening message from their captors.

Mrs. Adesanya, visibly shaken, recounted her ordeal at the briefing. She stated that her assailants tortured and threatened to kill her unless she produced her son, Azeez Abiodun Adesanya, for undisclosed reasons.

Mrs. Adesanya suspects the Ogboni cult's involvement, citing a seven-year-long dispute following her husband's death. The cult allegedly demanded her grandson, Jamal Pharrell Adesanya as a replacement for his deceased grandfather, prompting the boy's father to relocate to protect him.

Notably, no ransom was demanded during the kidnapping, further solidifying the family's suspicions.

The police have launched a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

"We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice," the police stated.
