Akindele Partners with NGO to Tackle Postpartum Hemorrhage
In a bid to reduce maternal mortality rates, the Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has partnered with an NGO, Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre (WARD C) to host a community engagement programme on postpartum hemorrhage (PPH).
The programme, attended by over 120 women of childbearing age, aimed to educate participants on the causes, risks, and preventive measures associated with PPH, a leading cause of maternal deaths in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event held at the Council secretariat on Wednesday August 6, 2025, Public Health and Communication Expert with WARD C, Wemimo Adewuni, highlighted the alarming rate of maternal deaths due to postpartum bleeding. She emphasized the importance of early health checks, blood level monitoring, and access to life-saving medication such as Tranexamic Acid (TXA).
Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi's collaboration with WARD C demonstrates her commitment to improving the health and well-being of women in the community. The programme is a significant step towards reducing maternal mortality rates and promoting a healthier future for women in Mosan-Okunola LCDA.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the Chief of Staff to the council chairman, Hon. Falope Tolutope, members of the management team, and healthcare professionals.
