Adunni Swears In Alawaye as Mosan-Okunola LCDA Secretary, Praises Loyalty and Dedication
The Executive Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, on Wednesday March 11, 2026 administered the oath of office to Alawaye AbdulHameed Ayodele as the new Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) in a surprise ceremony.
The swearing-in took place during the council’s 2026 Interfaith Ramadan/Lenten Welfare Programme, themed “Unity and Love Amongst All,” at the LCDA secretariat hall in Lagos.
The event drew a diverse gathering, including Vice Chairman Hon. Akintola Falade, council leader Hon. Tosin Afuwape SNR and other legislative members, Council Manager Pastor Joseph Abiodun, party leaders from the five wards, religious and traditional leaders, CDC/CDA representatives, and people living with disabilities.
Midway through her address following lectures by Chief Imam Shuaib Aminullahi Okandeji and Rev. Duro Olaniyan, Hon. Adunni announced the appointment, catching Alawaye (popularly known as Triple A) off guard. The grey-bearded philanthropist, seated at the high table, rose amid applause to accept the role.
Hon. Adunni described Alawaye as a committed party man, generous giver, and deep expert in Mosan-Okunola politics. “I didn’t plan this earlier, but we are swearing in our Secretary to the Local Government, and the person we have chosen is Alawaye,” she said. “He knows all the nitty-gritty of politics as far as Mosan-Okunola LCDA is concerned. There’s no better person for the SLG position than him.”
She called on career officers to support him for smooth and effective council administration.
Alawaye AbdulHameed Ayodele, an ever-smiling grassroots politician from Alimosho, began his public service in 2004 as an Executive Officer (Grade Level 08) in the Lagos State Public Service. He advanced his qualifications with a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance from Lagos State University and an MBA from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology. He is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) and the Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria (ICEN).
His career included serving as Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman of Oriade LCDA on Finance and Budget Matters. After retiring from civil service, he focused on politics and community development, championing transparency, accountability, and people-centred leadership.
The ceremony underscored the LCDA’s emphasis on unity across faiths during the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent, with the surprise appointment highlighting recognition of loyalty and service in local governance.
