Abisco VS Mayor KK 2027: APC Shuts Door on Primary Review!
The All Progressives Congress has finalised its list of candidates for the 2027 general elections and ruled out any review of its recently concluded primaries, even as aggrieved aspirants across the country continue to pile pressure on the party including a mounting dispute in the Alimosho Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
At the centre of the Alimosho controversy is the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, popularly known as Mayor K.K., who is demanding that the APC formally recognise him as the party's duly elected candidate following his landslide victory at the primary election.
Hon. Ayuba made the demand at a press conference held in Egbeda, Lagos, where he announced that he polled 37,021 votes against the 2,793 votes recorded by his closest rival, Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, popularly known as Abisco, a margin he described as a clear and unambiguous expression of the will of the party faithful.
"I am the popular candidate and the winner of this primary election," Ayuba told the gathering. "The figures speak for themselves, and I call on the APC leadership to do the right thing by registering my name as the candidate of our great party ahead of the 2027 elections."
The press conference drew a wide cross-section of stakeholders including APC party leaders in Alimosho, royal fathers, religious leaders, members of the Community Development Committee, youths, and party faithful, a turnout that underscored the depth of grassroots support behind the incumbent lawmaker.
Hon. Ayuba also appealed directly to President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to intervene in the matter, reaffirming his loyalty to the President and expressing confidence that justice would prevail in the resolution of the dispute.
The Alimosho situation mirrors a broader pattern playing out across the country, as the APC's decision to seal its candidate list without entertaining petitions has left dozens of aggrieved aspirants with limited options, either seek redress in court or accept the party's position.
As the 2027 electoral cycle draws closer, the APC's response to the Alimosho primary dispute is expected to shape the political landscape in one of Lagos State's most populous federal constituencies.
