MOSAN OKUNOLA FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF REMI OGUNJIMI AND ROAD 41 ROADS

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday, January 12 announced the flagging off of 114 roads to be constructed in the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the State, just as it assured that more roads will be accommodated in the next phase of the project.
The project expected to gulp N17.5 billion will last for 6 months across Lagos state. The contractors have been directed to engage the members of the community, especially artisans and experts, so as to boost the fight against unemployment and poverty.
The contractors having been mobilized with payment of 30 percent of the total cost, the 114 roads are expected to be of best standard with walkways, street lights and drainage.
On Monday February 1, the Executive Secretary of Mosan Okunola LCDA, Hon. Opeyemi Adunni Akindele flagged off the construction of Remi Ogunjimi street in Okunola and 41 Road in Gowon Estate.
Speaking at 41 Road in Gowon Estate, the Executive Secretary thanked the Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode for his determination to make all roads in the state motorable.  She also thanked the residents of the benefiting communities who came out in droves to witness the flag off for their support during the last elections told them to support her party so as to continue enjoying the dividend of democracy.
Speaking further, the Executive Secretary who was in company of the contractor handling the construction of 41 Road and representing Wetland Construction Nigeria limited, Engineer Abioye, noted that the contractor has promised to deliver the standard road with street lights, drainage and walkway in 16 weeks. She pleaded with the members of the benefiting communities to give the contractor the adequate support needed to deliver the road as at when promised.
Confirming to the residents, the contractor promised to deliver the project in 16 weeks if all other things, especially finance is put in place for smooth operation.
On the issue of people whose houses will be affected by the road construction, the contractor said a meeting has already been held by the contractors and those affected to map out a suitable recompense for them.
One of the community leaders who was present at the flag off while responding to the kind gesture of the governor, thanked the Lagos state governor and the Executive Secretary of Mosan Okunola for picking their roads to be the first beneficiaries of the project, he assured the contractor handling the project that the youth of the area are ready to work and therefore should be absorbed into the workforce of the project.
The team comprising of Heads of Department of Mosan Okunola LCDA, leaders of APC in Mosan Okunola, members of the Executive cabinet, the Council Manager, CDA and CDC representatives, the youth and press, moved to Remi Ogunjimi in Okunola, the site of the 2nd road to be constructed by another company, Kudwin Investment Limited.
Speaking at the venue of the flag off  of Remi Ogunjimi road, the representatives of Kudwin Investment Limited, the contractor,  Mr. Olaitan Bisi the project Coordinator and Engineer Akinwumi Olumide, the project Manager promised the road should be delivered in 16 weeks if they get the cooperation they need from the residents, especially those whose buildings will be affected. They asked locals who are interested in working on the project to apply through the local government and pleaded with them to cooperate while the project is ongoing especially when electric poles have to be relocated.
Having graded 34 roads since she came on board as the Executive Secretary of Mosan Okunola, Hon. Opeyemi Adunni Akindele promised that the roads will not only be maintained but will each be given a standard facelift in the subsequent phases of the road project in Lagos.
Speaking on the choice of the two roads to flag off the project in Mosan Okunola, the General Secretary of Community Development Committee (CDC), Mr. Olufemi Ojo said the roads were given priority over others because of their strategic positions being link roads in Mosan Okunola. He thanked the governor and the Executive Secretary and urged the residents to cooperate with the contractors so the road can be delivered in 16 weeks as promised.
Other roads to be constructed in different parts of Alimosho include Jolaosho street and Alhaji Idowu street in Alimosho, Owodunni street and Sotunde street in Agbado Okeodo, Pako-Baruwa, two storey road and Megida Olayemi road in Ayobo Ipaja. Others are Community road, Agodo and Council Street Idimu in Egbe Idimu, and finally Osunba street and Balogun Olanrewaju road, both in Igando Ikotun.
