Fabulous Couture at One!

A young and beautiful lady, you would have thought the CEO of Fabulous Fashion Academy, a subsidiary of Fabulous Couture & Style Co., was an elderly woman with a lot of experience judging from the news and stories we hear about the Fashion Academy. Not only that, the caliber of people that go there for training suggests the owner to be well experienced and versed in the Trade.
Miss Oyinlola Oluwakemi Damilola, the CEO of Fabulous Couture & Style Co. started Fashion professionally just a year ago. Though she started learning in 2010, she started her own business last year and in a space of 12months, she has graduated more than 50 Trainees from her Fashion Academy with another 25 Trainees in session now. Fabulous Fashion Academy can boast of different courses including Ankara Crafts and Accessories, Wire Works and Bead Making, Basic & Advanced Fashion Designing, Certificate in Fashion Designing and Diploma in Fashion Designing.
A Biology Education graduate who should be holding a chalk in one of the educational Institutions, one will wonder why she took to Fashion Designing as a profession. “I taught for about 6 months but I wasn’t enjoying myself. I wanted something more and it was like I wasn’t fulfilled,” she told Abesan News. She then went on to train as a Bridal Designer and even at that, she wanted something more. Finally, she went on to Austin Larry Fashion School in Agege and that was where she saw the clear message that she was in the right field.
Twelve months might not be enough to have memorable days in the Business but when we asked her for best and worst days so far, she remembered a day a woman came to her shop and asked what they were doing. After looking round, the woman asked how much they were selling a handmade bag. A bag that ordinarily was for N1,500 was sold for N10,000. Another day was when she registered 10 students in a day. It has not all been rosy, she remembered a day she took her time to design and impress a lady only to get to her with the clothe and the lady was angry on seeing the clothe. She wanted Fabulous to buy the clothe for her again. “I was very embarrassed” Fabulous told Abesan News.
Things have changed for the best now, when you talk about Fabulous, you talk about excellence. As a consultant to many NGOs, Fabulous is definitely smiling to the Bank and counting her blessings.
“Electricity and the environment is a big challenge for now, people in this area don’t appreciate the quality of service rendered. The way some people bargain, demoralises! They don’t appreciate what we are doing. You won’t believe how much the Tuition fee in the school I went to costs. In this area, people want to learn but they don’t want to pay.” She complained.
Miss Oyinlola Oluwakemi Damilola, the CEO of Fabulous Couture & Style Co. organized a get-together on 16th of December for her students, friends and family to thank God for a wonderful 2014 and to pray for the coming 2015. Present at the event were family members, former colleagues, her Teacher, Mentor and the owner of Austin Larry Fashion School, her students, friends and well wishers.
The students took time to speak on her friendliness and excellent way of impacting knowledge. They believe she was born with the gift and will go a long way. The old students that came thanked her for the time they spent with her and prayed for her progress.
Speaking to the students, the elder sister of Fabulous Mrs. Bukola Oluwadare encouraged the trainees to include God in everything they do while the CEO of Austin Larry Fashion Training school encouraged them to be hardworking. They were admonished to be creative and to put their mind to what they are learning.
